We chose the name MACHI for our business for both where it comes from and what it means.

First, you may have already noticed that MACHI is a combination of MA from MAmiko and CHI from CHIp. This business is built on a combination of our skills and experiences.

Second, the word MACHI, in Japanese, means “small town”. With respect to our travel and tours, we believe you can learn the most from getting off the beaten path, exploring backroads and small towns. With respect to our values, we believe that small town community and relationships built one by one are the foundation of our society.

Our educational programs and approach to facilitation are grounded in personal relationships and a personal touch.

Our logo is the Japanese character for “Machi” on a teal “globe”. This is to symbolize the foundation of communities of people as the building blocks of our global society.

You may notice that the character for “MACHI” includes what looks like a “window”. This represents a “window” to the world. If you use your imagination, you may also see a “key” in this symbol. It is our goal to “unlock” new possibilities for you and your business.
